Hattiesburg-The City of Hattiesburg and P.A.C.E. Head Start will host their annual Stomp Out Obesity Health Fair today from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Town Square Park, located on the corner of North Main and Buschman Streets. Participants are to expect a fun-filled afternoon of giveaways, activities and health screenings which will promote the benefits of healthy living.
The Hattiesburg Police and Fire Departments are pumped up about the event as they are planning to go muscle for muscle in a tug of war contest. The war of words is already underway. “This will be a quick and easy win for our team,” said HFD Assistant Chief Paul Presley. But HPD Captain Terrance Bullock begged to differ. “We shall see,” said Captain Bullock. “We excel in all that we do so Chief Presley and his troop better come prepared to play,” he warned.
Do not be surprised to see Mayor Johnny DuPree taking part in the action. “Creating a fun atmosphere while educating citizens-especially our babies-is a sure way to continue our tradition of being a healthy hometown,” said Mayor DuPree. “I am very proud of the results so far from the collaboration between private and business entities. “The unveiling of our health Web site soon and mobile app are just some of the great things on the horizon in our daily effort to fight obesity.”
