Hattiesburg – Mayor Johnny L. DuPree’s Annual Prayer Breakfast is slated for Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 6:30 a.m., at the Lake Terrace Convention Center, One Convention Center Plaza. This year’s keynote speaker is Legendary Gospel Musician Andraé Crouch.
Crouch is an award-winning recording artist, songwriter and producer. Born in Los Angeles, California, he was a key figure in the Christian Music movement of the 60s and 70s. His songs have been performed by Elvis Presley, Paul Simon and other groups worldwide. Winning eight Grammy and six GMA Dove awards, Crouch was inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1998. Crouch now serves as Senior Pastor at the New Christ Memorial Church of God in Christ in San Fernando, California, which was founded by his parents.
The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast which will coincide with the National Day of Prayer will be intertwined with performances and prayers led by area pastors from the city, counties, state and nation.
